| Model numbers | Type | Repair part | Handle |
|---|---|---|---|
| PTT188750, PTT188752, PTT188740, PTT188742, PTT188730 (tub and shower); PTR188700 (shower only) | Pressure balance tub and shower trim on a Peerless or Delta rough-in | RP70538 single function pressure balance cartridge | Single lever with set screw; handle RP70531 |
The RP70538 is shared with Delta Foundations tub and showers, and distributors cross-reference it to the Glacier Bay RP90012, which suggests all three come off the same line.
Before you start. Shut off the water at the house main (shower valves rarely have their own shutoff), then open the valve to confirm the water has stopped. You will need a screwdriver, an adjustable wrench or pliers, and for most handles a hex key (an Allen wrench, sold as an inexpensive set at any hardware store). If a shutoff valve will not turn or starts to drip, or anything is corroded and will not loosen with moderate force, stop and see when to call a plumber. New to this?
