Identify Your Glacier Bay Cartridge Without a Model Number

You do not need the model number to find the right Glacier Bay part. The cartridge can be identified from what the handle does, what is under it, and what the cartridge looks like once it is out. Work through the checks in order and stop when one matches. Each result links to the repair page and to the manufacturer’s part page, which has a photo you can compare against.

Before you start. The first checks need no tools. The later ones mean removing the handle, so shut off the two small valves under the sink first (or the house main for a shower) and open the faucet to confirm the water has stopped. You will need a screwdriver and a hex key (Allen wrench). Start here explains how a handle comes off.

Glacier Bay is Home Depot’s house brand and has been made by several different manufacturers, so there is no universal Glacier Bay cartridge. The model number is on a tag under a handle (the hot handle on two handle faucets) or on the supply line, and it is the most reliable route. The checks below get you to the right family when there is no tag.

Check 1: what kind of faucet?

  • Single handle pull-down kitchen: go to check 2.
  • Single handle bathroom: the 864850 cartridge on the Aragon, or the RP90097 on the HD65480W centerset. Measure as in check 2.
  • Two handles: quarter-turn ceramic stems, one per side, not interchangeable between sides. Builders and Teapot centersets use RP20067 (hot) and RP20068 (cold); the 67704W widespread uses RP70193 (hot) and RP20079 (cold). Two handle stems.
  • Tub and shower: the Aragon uses the RP90012 pressure balance cartridge; other single handle showers use the 864660. Glacier Bay’s own answers on which fits which contradict the parts sheets, so call with the model number before buying. Shower cartridge.

Check 2: single handle, measure the cartridge

Remove the handle and the cap, unscrew the nut, and lift the cartridge out.

  • 35 mm (1 3/8 inch) across, about 2 1/4 inches tall, with a temperature limit stop: RP20044 on the Market and Touchless, or the Home Depot SKU 864680 on the 67109W, 67553, 67556, and 67557 series. Aftermarket 35 mm Kerox cartridges fit these. Single handle cartridge.
  • About 1.95 inches tall: 864850, Aragon.

If none of these match

Pull the cartridge out, take a photo of it next to a ruler, and either call Glacier Bay (the number is on the Glacier Bay page) or take it to the plumbing desk at a hardware store. Cartridges are matched on sight every day. Do not buy a part until it is matched; most are not returnable once opened.
